Vision Statement

Alderson-Broaddus College will prepare graduates for success and service to humanity; embody its Christian commitment by caring for each student in a learner-centered environment; be renowned as a leader in health-related and professional higher education firmly rooted in the liberal arts; and serve the people of Appalachia to enhance the quality of life and economic viability of the region.

Vision Commitments

Alderson-Broaddus College will singularly commit itself to the success of its students by:

  • Providing a nurturing environment that embraces the Christian values of moral integrity, service, trust, justice and compassion.  The College affirms its commitment to its historic and continuing place within the Church of Jesus Christ, as it is embodied in the West Virginia Baptist Convention and the American Baptist Churches in the US.
  • Measuring institutional effectiveness by specific student outcomes in academic skills and in the lives of our graduates. 
  • Strengthening and expanding programs in the health sciences, teacher education, music, business, and computer related fields while firmly rooting all of its programs in the liberal arts, maintaining academic excellence, and integrating technology in every aspect of the curriculum.
  • Providing essential resources that make it possible for students who are academically underprepared to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to achieve success in the College's academically challenging programs.
  • Expanding services to meet the needs of students of various ages and circumstance by providing both traditional campus-based curricular and co-curricular programs and a broad range of flexible, customized, distance-learning, and collaborative approaches.
  • Increasing its ability to meet the needs of students who have limited financial resources by developing new methodologies which increase the affordability of our educational programs.
  • Strengthening and expanding curricular, co-curricular, and experiential programs that link its students to the world and expose students to issues of global importance in order to prepare them for successful participation in a global society.
