The Computer Science major at Alderson-Broaddus College has a modern curriculum that is under constant fine tuning to keep up with current trends. We offer a range of educational goals for computer science students: certificate, associate, bachelors of arts and bachelor of science degrees. The Natural Science Division has opportunities for involvement through the Outdoor Club, ZAG (Zetta Alpha Gamma) Science Club, as well as Division luncheons and picnics.
Special Features of the Program
In addition to introductory courses: introduction to computer science, computer science I and II, students are given a wide selection of topics to choose from. Program of study is flexible and can be tailored to specific needs. Students have opportunity of earning internship credit. They can also engage in independent or guided study.
Participation in computer science seminar familiarizes students with the past, present and the future issues of the computer science profession not otherwise covered in computer science curriculum.
Courses include architecture and assembler, data base management, communications, operating systems, software engineering, data structures and algorithms, networking and computer graphics.
A-B's computer labs provide access for every student to a personal computer or to a mainframe. The system is constantly being expanded and upgraded. All labs are internet connected.
