Influx

Influx is an annual literary magazine produced and published by students and faculty of the Humanities Division of Alderson-Broaddus College.  It features the original poetry, fiction, plays, essays, and photography of students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the college.  Since the first issue was published in 1991, Influx has been an important part of A-B College's yearly schedule of campus activities.

All members of the campus community are eligible to submit their work to the Division of Humanities.  The main requirement is that the work be an original piece of poetry, prose, or photography created by a student, faculty or staff member, or alumnus of A-B College.

All works submitted are examined by the Editorial Board, consisting of the student editors and an academic advisor.  The Board examines the works for literary or artistic merit and adherence to guidelines.  Any student currently enrolled at the college is eligible to be selected to serve on the Influx Editorial Board.

Influx also sponsors an annual writing contest for students, in which three works by students in each of two categories, poetry and fiction, are selected for prizes.  Deadlines and guidelines for the competition are announced each year.  In addition to the cash prizes, the winners of the contest will be featured in Influx each year.

To receive a sample copy of Influx or to receive more information about the publication, contact Mrs. Carol Del Col, Associate Professor of Literature and Writing.
