Applied Research I

This class will be taken in the spring semester. 

Instructional Goals - At the completion of this course, the student will:

i.      Have a basic knowledge of the conduct of a scientific research project

ii.      Have a basic knowledge of the sections and content of a scientific research project report

iii.      Demonstrate the ability to select a research design appropriate for an individual research project

iv.      Demonstrate clear and concise writing of a scientific research report

v.      Demonstrate the ability to arrive at and express valid conclusions based on data analysis and the conduct of a research project

vi.      Demonstrate the ability to explain concepts of statistical analysis as related to an individual research project

Course Objectives - At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:

i.      Formulate the results of a complete, relevant literature search into an introduction/background section for researching a particular question

ii.      Formulate a reference section of citations used in a scientific research report

iii.      Formulate a clear, concise methods section for a scientific research report

iv.      Analyze a dataset for interpretation in a scientific research report

v.      Formulate a clear, concise results section for a scientific research report

vi.      Formulate a relevant and concise discussion section for a scientific research report

vii.      Formulate a relevant and concise conclusions section for a scientific research report

viii.      Formulate a relevant and concise abstract section for a scientific research report
