Susan Christian, Chief Probation Officer for the West Virginia Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, comprised of Barbour and Taylor Counties, has been named 2009 Probation Officer of the Year by the West Virginia Association of Probation Officers. She has served on the Board of Directors of Probation Services for West Virginia and has served on numerous committees for the Association. Taylor County Circuit Court Judge Alan D. Moats stated “Susan is respected throughout the state and is a leader among her peers. She is hardworking, dedicated and has made a positive impact on the lives of countless youth in our circuit. She is very deserving of this high honor.” Susan resides in the Flemington, WV area of Taylor County with her husband Mike Corley.
Class of 1974
Jessica (Garfola) Wright is the commander of the Pennsylvania National Guard. She was recently honored by Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA with a Founders Day Award. This was the first time that the college had honored a member of the military. Jessica is responsible for Pennsylvania’s 19,000 Air and Army National Guard personnel, state-owned veterans’ homes, and programs for 1.1 million veterans in the state. She was the Army National Guard’s first female aviator, the first woman in the Army to be appointed as a maneuver brigade commander, and in 2005, became Pennsylvania’s first female adjutant general. She and her husband, Charles, live in Grantsville, PA. Jessica is on the Broad of Governors at A-B College.
