Three Players Earn All-Conference Awards

Following a season in which the Alderson-Broaddus men’s team spent a great deal of time in the national rankings, the WVIAC honored three of Greg Zimmerman’s standout guards with all-conference awards.
Stan Hall was chosen for his fourth all-conference plaque in as many seasons.  The senior from Canton, Ohio was third in the league in scoring with 23.1 points per game en route to earning First-Team All-Conference honors for the third year in a row.  He also pulled down 5.6 rebounds per game, including nearly three offensive boards per game, which was good enough for seventh in the conference.  Hall also averaged 3.4 assists per contest and was 13th in the WVIAC in shooting percentage at 53 percent.  Hall, who was an All-Freshman selection in 2006, earned three Player of the Week honors this season, the most of any player.
Sam Liggins, a transfer from Lakeland Community College, blossomed in his second year as a Battler uniform to join Hall on the WVIAC First-Team.  The senior from Cleveland, Ohio led the conference with 112 made three pointers and was tenth in the conference with 18.9 points per game.  His 44 percent from behind-the-arc was good enough for the sixth in the WVIAC.
Terrell Eargle garnered his third All-Conference award after completing another fine year in Philippi.  After being voted the WVIAC Freshman of the Year in 2007 and earning First-Team honors last year, Eargle was named to the second team this year.  A junior from Youngstown, Ohio, he averaged 11.6 points per game, and was in the top ten in several other categories that helped the Battlers finish second in the league.  Eargle was 4th in assists (5.7 per game), 8th in rebounds (7.4 per contest), and 6th in steals (2.0), blocks (1.5), and assist to turnover ratio.
The three honorees look to lead the Battlers as they prepare to defend their title this week at the WVIAC tournament at the Charleston Civic Center.
