Kemper-Redd Hall Renovations
Built in 1967, Kemper-Redd Hall, though heavily utilized by almost
all Alderson-Broaddus students, has never seen a comprehensive
renovation. In its day, the building was the home for innovation
and learning. It allowed for hands-on learning and sophisticated
experimentation, analysis, and design. It had the most modern
equipment available at the time, yet it was not built to accommodate
the sophistication of modern day science, or even to support
the electricity of modern day science equipment. Kemper-Redd
facilities have been unable to match the growing quality of its
programs and the changing times. Therefore, it is necessary to
invest in renovating Kemper-Redd Hall —a project estimated
at $1.5 million.
The building itself will receive much-needed air
conditioning and general upgrades to classrooms. Each laboratory,
whether for chemistry,
biology, or environmental science, will receive complete renovations
and the state-of-the-art equipment necessary to properly train
tomorrow’s scientists and health professionals such as our
nurses and physician assistants. The entire building will be brought
up to the highest possible safety standards as mandated by OSHA,
with proper air quality, first aid equipment, and safety equipment.
With the renewal of Kemper-Redd Hall, the science and health-related
professional programs that mark Alderson-Broaddus as a center for
excellence will flourish. The facilities will match the quality
of the programs, meet current as well as future needs, enhance
recruitment and retention, and allow innovation and research to
thrive.
