Student Scholarships
Alderson-Broaddus defines itself by its ability
to provide students with the skills they need to succeed in a range
of career-oriented and professional programs—all built on
a foundation that emphasizes moral integrity, personal responsibility,
and service to the community. Graduates of our nationally-acclaimed
Physician Assistant program, for example, go out into the world
as skilled healers who serve the entire spectrum of people who
need their care. Still other Alderson-Broaddus graduates uplift
their communities using their talents and skills as church and
business leaders, musicians, and scientists. Scholarships are often
the only means by which many of these future success stories can
attain the high-quality education they deserve and that Alderson-Broaddus
provides. The vast majority of the college’s students come
from households with annual incomes of less than $35,000; over
90 percent receive some form of financial aid. Renewing the
Promise: the Campaign for Alderson-Broaddus seeks to raise $9 million for
additional endowed scholarships. Doing so will allow the college
to double the amount of endowed funds, thereby increasing the total
amount of annual scholarships to approximately $1.1 million. Physician’s
Assistant alumni who give scholarship monies to the endowment can
perpetuate their profession and ensure a steady flow of qualified
healthcare professionals into their communities. Everyone who helps
build our ability to give scholarships literally contributes to
the economic growth of the Appalachian region. Alderson-Broaddus
graduates from every major program make an indelible impact on
their communities and on society. The cost of Alderson-Broaddus
simply should not hinder deserving young people from accomplishing
their life’s goals.
