Gift Aid includes grants and scholarships, and does not have to be repaid. Outside grants and scholarships you receive are included in your aid package.
Alderson-Broaddus Grants & Scholarship Program
- National Merit Finalist -Full tuition scholarship; student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
- Presidential Scholarship Academic based tuition scholarship awarded to first-time college students upon acceptance to the college; based upon high school transcripts and test scores; students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress; $10,000 for WV residents, $11,000 for out-of-state students entering A-B for Fall 2008.
- Academic Excellence Scholarship based tuition scholarship awarded to first-time college students upon acceptance to the college; based upon high school transcripts and test scores; range from $6,000 - $8,000 for WV residents, $7,000 - $9,000 for out-of-state students entering A-B for Fall 2008.
- Blue & Gold Scholarship based tuition scholarship awarded to first-time college students upon acceptance to the college; based upon high school transcripts and test scores; $2,500 for students entering A-B Fall 2007.

- Academic Excellence Scholarships (for Transfer Students based upon GPA from previous college work) $2,000 - $4,000
- A-B Endowed Scholarships (Need Based; Amount Varies) These scholarships are supported by the generosity of alumni and private donors to the College's Scholarship Endowment Fund. These are based upon financial need and being enrolled full-time and are awarded by the financial aid office based upon the information on a student's FAFSA. Endowed Scholarships will be reduced if a student receives any other college scholarships, federal and state need-based grants, or if a student's housing status changes.
- Music Performance Scholarships (Amount Varies) For students majoring in music; amounts vary; based upon audition and academics.
- Athletic Scholarships (Amount Varies) A-B participates in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. Athletic scholarships are offered by the athletic department based upon eligibility and talent. A signed contract must be returned to the Financial Aid Office in order to be added to a student's award.
- Humanities Performance Scholarships (Amount Varies) Students must have a 2.50 cumulative GPA prior to the beginning of the next academic year; awarded by the supervisor for participation in either the speech/debate team, Battler Columns, the Battler Yearbook, the WQAB radio station, or art studio throughout the academic year. A signed Humanities contract must be returned to the Financial Aid Office.
- Music Participation Scholarship For non-music majors who participate in selected ensembles. Students are awarded $300 per ensemble per semester. Scholarships are awarded after the semester of participation is completed.
