Mrs. Susan Simmons is an Assistant Professor in Nursing at Alderson Broaddus University. Her primary responsibilities include teaching Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Pharmacology. She has 8 years of teaching experience, and has been at ABU since 2010. She is involved in the tradition and LPN-BSN Program at ABU.
Simmons earned her Associates Degree in Nursing at Davis and Elkins College in 1994. In 2005 from West Virginia University earned her Bachelor of Science Degree. Masters of Science Degree with a focus in Family Nurse Practitioner was earned in 2007 from Wheeling Jesuit University. Currently is working towards her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Walden University with plans to graduate in May 2015.
Simmons maintains her expertise working towards her doctorate degree in a family practice office as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Elkins, West Virginia. She is an advisor for students in the School of Nursing. She is also a member of the following professional organizations: WV Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, and Golden Key International Honor Society. Mrs. Simmons is an active member in her home community and church having served on the youth board and mission boards at the First Baptist Church in Elkins.
Mrs. Simmons lives in Elkins, WV with her husband Rocky, and 2 daughters. Her oldest daughter Katie is a Pharmacist in Elkins. Her youngest daughter has her BSN and currently working towards her degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Activities of enjoyment are swimming, walking, hiking, reading, and traveling.
