The Alderson Broaddus University Volleyball Team will be holding a series of events on September 25-26 in support of Lymphoma Awareness and the team’s assistant coach.
“We wanted to do something for my assistant coach, Abby Stoner, who was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma earlier this year,” said AB Volleyball head coach Carrie Bodkins.
In support of Coach Stoner and Lymphoma Awareness, an “Awareness Match” will be held on September 25 against Shepherd University. The team will be collecting donations for Coach Stoner and will have an information booth available for those in attendance.
On Sunday, September 26, the AB Volleyball team will host Jump Company, USA, a competition and demonstration jump rope team from Parkersburg, WV, in a 3 p.m. performance. The team will also participate in a “Jump-a-thon” afterwards.
Admission to the demonstration and “Jump-a-thon” will be $1 for public and free for AB University students. Donations for Coach Stoner will be accepted and all admission collected at the event will be presented to her.
Jump Company USA’s members include national and world champions, and three members are currently on Team USA which represented the United States this summer at the world jump rope tournament in England. They have performed basketball half time shows around the state of West Virginia, and across the country, and a few of their members are preparing to perform with Cirque du Soleil in Orlando, Florida in October.
