PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus University is excited to announce it has accepted an invitation to join the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The 2012-13 academic year will be the Battlers final season competing in its current conference.

“I would like to thank the G-MAC and its conference commissioner, Tom Daeger, for extending us the invitation,” says Alderson Broaddus University President Rick Creehan. “We are grateful for the opportunity to join a new conference of like-minded, predominantly private institutions, with solid plans for growth and outstanding leadership under Commissioner Daeger.”

The G-MAC was approved by the NCAA Division II Membership Committee in February of 2012 as a member conference effective September 1, 2012. To learn more, please visit their official website at: .

AB Athletic Director Dennis Creehan states he and the entire athletic department are excited about this new transition.
“We are very enthusiastic about the future of AB and our athletic programs,” he said. “We look forward to competing with these schools and building new relationships. With our all-time high freshman class moving in this weekend and our athletic department continuing to expand, the time to be a Battler has never been more thrilling than now.”

This year the AB Athletic Department has increased to 16 sports. Next year, the College will have 22 intercollegiate sports and five spirit teams, bringing the department to 27 programs.

With the assistance of G-MAC leadership, Alderson Broaddus has already begun exploring an affiliate membership for football in other conferences.
