ALDERSON BROADDUS EXTENDS TUITION AND COMPREHENSIVE FEE FREEZE
ABU Continues to Lead Nation with its Affordability Initiative
PHILIPPI, W.Va. - Dr. Richard Creehan, president of Alderson Broaddus University, announced Monday that the University has extended its three-year commitment of a comprehensive fee freeze, which includes tuition, room, board, and a general fee for a fourth year, through spring of 2015.
“Alderson Broaddus University’s affordability initiative with comprehensive fee freeze is not a gimmick and there are no price increases,” said Creehan. “We are making a genuine effort to help parents. The comprehensive fee freeze is for all of our undergraduate students. We have frozen not only tuition but also room and board.”
In October of 2011, school officials announced the three-year commitment, introducing the affordability initiative which included freezing the direct cost of education, controlling student loan debt, and maintaining ‘time-to-degree’, a concept which aids students in obtaining a four-year bachelor’s degree in four years.
“Alderson Broaddus University has led the nation with its affordability initiative, a full year before President Obama addressed the nation, challenging college and university presidents to make significant progress regarding the outlandish costs of a college degree,” said Creehan. “We continue to hear that price is the number one concern of families and we are proud to continue to offer great academics at an affordable cost.”
In addition to freezing all fees and recommending modest student loans, with over 80% of students receiving academic scholarships and 99% qualifying for financial aid, an ABU education becomes a private school experience at a public school cost.
“This announcement makes it abundantly clear that Alderson Broaddus University remains committed to being affordable and we intend to lead the way in higher education in our state, region, and country,” said Creehan.
ABU is a health-related and professional educational institution firmly rooted in the liberal arts. The mission of Alderson Broaddus University is to provide its students with the highest quality education, striving to prepare students to succeed in their chosen disciplines and to fulfill their roles in a diverse society as well-rounded and responsible citizens.
