Students set to volunteer in community and on campus April 11-13
PHILIPPI, W.Va. – Alderson Broaddus University is hosting its 3rd Annual Do Good Weekend April 11-13, 2014. The campus community service organization which provides volunteers to those in need of assistance, is hosting this year’s event.
Do Good Weekend is an event for all students, faculty and staff to volunteer in Barbour County as well as on AB’s campus. On Saturday April 12th, students of Alderson Broaddus University will participate in the beautification of the campus as well as within the town of Philippi. Students will be offering their assistance by raking leaves, pulling weeds, washing windows, trash clean up, painting, etc.
AB has displayed significant commitment to the community over the past few years. During last year’s Do Good Weekend, 212 volunteers served over 570 hours of service.
AB also won the 2013 West Virginia Campus Compact Engaged Campus Award for making extensive campus-wide efforts to layer engagement with the community throughout the student experience. The award recognizes institutions of higher education for exemplary commitment to advancing the civic purpose of higher education by deepening its ability to improve community life and educating students for civic and social responsibility.
