Judith "Judy" A. Barnard, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Advancement, has been named secretary of the year by the Alderson Broaddus University Secretarial and Clerical Association (ABSCA).   Barnard received this award for her service and dedication to AB University.

Barnard started working for Alderson Broaddus University in November 2006 as the Coordinator of Music Scheduling / Registrar Assistant.  She assumed her present duties in May of 2007.

“Judy has been a faithful and conscientious employee, and will always go ‘the extra mile’—even without being asked,” said Tanya Shelton, Vice President for Advancement at Alderson Broaddus.  “She is very efficient and thorough in all that she does—reliable and hard-working,” continued Shelton.

Formed in 1973, ABSCA is made up of both current and retired administrative professionals of Alderson Broaddus University. ABSCA exists for the members to strengthen working relationships with each other and with other college personnel.  ABSCA also sponsors initiatives that support both the college and the broader community.  Recent sample projects of ABSCA include an annual monetary scholarship awarded to an AB student; donations to organizations such as the Relay for Life of Barbour County, the Philippi Public Library, and the annual AB University fund; and special projects such as providing school supplies to impoverished children in Iraq and providing sock monkeys to children affected by violence in the Philippi community.
