Dr. Phil Cline Named Acting President of A-B College

The Board of Trustees at Alderson-Broaddus College have named Dr. Philip E. Cline of Huntington as acting president of A-B College effective immediately.  Dr. Cline takes over for Dr. J. Michael Clyburn, who is on physician-ordered medical leave.

Dr. Cline has a long affiliation with A-B College, having most recently served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees until 2009. He was unanimously selected by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees earlier this week and the Committee's action was unanimously ratified by the Board of Trustees on Friday, November 12, 2010. Dr Cline will be moving to campus and will assume his duties on Tuesday, November 16, 2010.

Dr. Ronald L. Burbick, Chair of the A-B College Board of Trustees states, "It is a pleasure to have Dr. Cline's appointment ratified by the Board of Trustees of Alderson-Broaddus College as the Acting President of the College.    Dr. Cline's dedication to A-B College has earned him the respect of colleagues, staff, faculty, students and others.  At a time like this Dr. Cline is the ideal individual to continue everyone's vision from the mountain."

Dr. Cline holds two degrees from Marshall University; a Master's of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting.  He received an Honorary Doctor of Business degree from Alderson-Broaddus College in 2005.  He has been an exemplary leader in charitable and non-profit organizations and causes and is an active member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, WV.
