Women’s Soccer Outlasts Arch Rival Bobcats
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Not rain, thunder or lightning could stop Alderson-Broaddus women’s soccer from earning its fourth consecutive win against arch rival West Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 Thursday at Wood Street Park.
"It's always a good feeling to get a victory on the road, especially there," said Head Coach Patrick McGinnis. "We really struggled in the first half, but rebounded well and put together a good second 45 minutes."
Senior Nicole Lehman tallied the game-winning goal, her team-leading fourth of the season, at 56:33. The Orlando, Fla., native was aided by senior Gwen Brand.
Senior goal keeper Kate Laird was stellar in net for the Battlers (5-3-1). Laird shutout the Bobcats and recorded six saves in the victory.
WVWC out shot A-B 9-4 and Bobcat freshman Heather Sanders was responsible for a team-high three shots on goal.
The Battlers travel to Pepper Pike, Ohio, Tuesday to face Ursuline University at 4 p.m. ET.
