About
Rebecca Maddox-Hall is the Director of Athletics at Alderson Broaddus University, a role she has held since 2020. She is the first woman to lead AB Athletics in the program's 102-year history. She oversees all 27 of AB's NCAA Division II varsity programs, more than 600 student-athletes, 38 coaches and athletic staff, the Rex Pyles Arena, the Battler Stadium and turf field, the Battler Tennis Courts, the AB Equestrian Center, and the entire AB Athletics operating budget.
A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Maddox-Hall holds an M.S. in Sport Administration from Ohio University (2007) and a B.A. in Health & Physical Education (cum laude) from Marshall University (2005). She is a Certified Athletic Administrator (CMAA) through the NIAAA.
Before her AD appointment, Maddox-Hall served at AB as head softball coach from 2008 to 2018 (the program's longest-tenured head coach in any sport) and as Associate Athletic Director from 2018 to 2020. Her softball teams won three G-MAC conference championships and made the NCAA D-II Tournament four times.

Teaching
AD Maddox-Hall teaches one course each spring in the AB Sport Management program — and continues to mentor every AB head coach personally.
- SPM 410Athletic Administration: Leadership in Collegiate AthleticsA senior elective covering the operational, ethical, and strategic dimensions of leading a collegiate athletic program. Each student shadows an AB athletics staff member for the semester.
Athletic Leadership & Service
Maddox-Hall's identity is operational and strategic: the daily practice of leading a small-college athletic department. Under her direction the AB Battlers have launched the Sprint Football program (2022) and the AB Esports program (2023), achieved 17 conference championships across all sports, and produced the highest combined student-athlete GPA in program history (3.21, Fall 2024).
She is a member of the NCAA Division II Athletic Director's Cabinet, the Mountain East Conference Executive Committee, and the WV Intercollegiate Athletic Directors' Association (Past President). She is a sought-after presenter on small-college athletic leadership.

Beyond the Classroom
Maddox-Hall lives in Philippi with her wife Allyson (the AB Director of Athletic Compliance) and their three rescue dogs. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Philippi, a regular at the AB Concert Choir Christmas concerts, and a youth-softball clinic instructor at the Barbour County YMCA.
She is a serious bow hunter (the AD office has a small framed photo of her first 8-point buck) and a competitive amateur Crossfit athlete in the Buckhannon Masters Division.
