Alderson Broaddus University is a place where curiosity is championed, faith is welcomed, and friendships last a lifetime. Founded in 1871 by visionary American Baptists in Winchester, Virginia, and joined in 1932 with Alderson Junior College of Greenbrier County, our institution has educated more than 25,000 alumni who today serve their communities as physicians, nurses, teachers, ministers, scientists, business leaders, public servants, and parents — from West Virginia hollers to West African villages.
Our 170-acre campus crowns College Hill above the historic town of Philippi, where on June 3, 1861, the first organized land battle of the American Civil War was fought. Whether you are a prospective student, an alumnus, or a curious neighbor, we welcome you home.
