Alderson Broaddus University is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), one of the six U.S. regional institutional accreditors. AB has held continuous HLC accreditation since 1947, with the most recent comprehensive reaffirmation in 2022. The next comprehensive review is scheduled for 2032; HLC fourth-year and tenth-year monitoring takes place between comprehensive reviews.
HLC accreditation means that AB's academic credits transfer to virtually every U.S. institution, that AB graduates may sit for federal civil-service examinations and most state licensure examinations, and that AB students are eligible for federal Title IV financial aid (Pell Grants, Federal Direct Loans, Federal Work-Study).
